Two blogs in a space of a week is some kind of record for me.
What brought about this event of epic proportions?
Well, I came back from a long bhaat session at Eggies.
After a not-too-long meeting at the Gymkhana.
Searched for Prison Break Episode Number 213.
In vain. Life's a bitch.
Downloaded Don, the new one I mean.
Must have watched the old one hazaar times in bits and pieces.
Mind you, I've never seen it in its entirety.
For that matter, name any Hindi classic. Nine times out of ten, I would have watched some part of it. Like Sholay, or Mughal-e-azam.
Hell, it shocked most of the people I know that I saw Jo Jeeta Wahi Sikandar for the first time a couple of months back.
In my defense, 3 hours is a long, long time to force someone to sit and watch characters, however endearing they may be, mouthing dialogues, dancing and in the aforementioned case, cycling
Nothing against Hindi films in particular.
Coming back to Don. It was a total let down, except maybe the last 5 minutes which was the only part i didnt need to fast forward.
Farhan Akhtar, tch tch.
Lakshya was awesome. Dunno what happened to you thereafter.
Just for the record, Dil Chahta Hai.. not my cup of tea.
So I needed to multitask while watching the film, Don.
Decided to clean my closet.
After much ado, successfully divided my clothes into three not so neat piles.
Clean, unironed. Clean, ironed. And then the majority. No points for guessing which pile won hands down.
Again, not my fault. End of semester, exams finished yesterday. You can't blame me for concentrating on my books can you?
By this time I'm sure you realise how blameless I really am. The universe conspires against me from time to time though.
Anyway, back to my closet. I dumped the first category very unceremoniously into a large shopping bag. The second, I hung out neatly in the closet. About the third, lets just say I have one of those big samsonite strolleys. It was..ahem.. put to good use. And then pushed under the bed.
Don still showed no signs of coming to an end.
Next on the To-Clean List, my books.
Fifth semester came to an end. The books, the copies, lab files, exam papers. I piled them all and shall hoard them till the mamma of all vivas. The grand viva. Unimaginative name.
Don still spouts pearls of wisdom. Damn him.
Emptied the flower vase of a week old bunch of gerberas. Good riddance to stinky water.
Sudden realisation hits me.
Why didn't I stop watching the movie once it started to drag?I push the annoying thought aside.
I might as well watch the whole movie, 15 odd minutes left.
I finally settle down on my now freshly made bed, with clean linen and fluffy pillows.
And some solace at last. The ending doesnt stink that much.
Thank God for small mercies.
By the way, its 6:00 in the morning now.
Might as well enjoy one of the rare sunrises in Kgp that I've had the privilege to see :)
If you have trudged on wearily till here, it might either please you or make you doubt the judging standards in Kharagpur, to know that my hall won the Gold in the English Creative Writing Interhalls.
What I wrote on? "Making sense out of nonsense."
Hope you did too. :D

TO FRIEND A & FRIEND B

Exams invariably cause a frenzied outflow of the written word from me.
And certainly not on the answer scripts.
Whether it is a good thing or a bad one is for you to judge.
I plead guilty to all charges of lack of humour and satire in what I write.
Can't help it, I don't possess a good enough sense of humour.
Anyway, keeping modesty at an arm's length for all future references,
here's a poem I wrote for two wonderful friends.
Yes, I know that I can't write a "grown-up" poem, the last words of lines just have to rhyme!

I was whistling a melancholy tune,
and wishing for a miraculous boon.
When a prince popped out of nowhere,
and offered me a joyride to his fair.
He was handsome and oh-so-sweet,
I could hardly stay up on my feet.
His hand I took and jumped aboard
his carriage, like a brave matador.
We sped away in a blink,
and left a trail of powder and zinc.
The fair was huge and full of fun,
confetti, glitter and balloons.
In a shadowy corner, I saw a glow
where it came from I wouldn't know.
My curiosity was killing me now,
although the fair was totally wow.
It was the most beautiful shop,
full of gifts and candy and dew drops.
I searched high, I searched low,
and all I found was a tiny golden bow.
The bow I took and played Cupid
and brought together two people so stupid.
What became of me is another story,
about how I found luck and glory.
My prince was charming to say the least,
but now its time to raise a toast,
to the Beauty and the Beast..
